About Kindred Comics

The why...

As two creatives who have built their brands successfully outside of comic books whilst still being synonymous with comic book fandom, Jermaine Riley (writer/artist) and Glen Murphy (writer/editor) discovered a kinship with one another.

No matter what they would venture into, the comic book influence would shine through, making their individual projects in music and dance stand out amongst their peers. Quickly, Riley took on the title of the UK's "R&B Superman", with an album and several other Superman-themed mixtapes and music videos to boot, as Murphy made a name for himself in the dance world, devising entire dance pieces and routines centred around superheroes and their unique abilities.

With many of today's popular comic books bogged down with decades of complicated backstory, Riley and Murphy are giving comic book enthusiasts and would-be readers the perfect fresh start in the form of a vigilante husband and wife with a suit made of alien technology at their disposal. Kindred's first official leap into the comic book industry promises to be eye-catching, endearing and powerful enough to capture the hearts of comic book fans desperate for something new.

Enter: Extraman.

We are Jermaine Riley and Glen Murphy, UK-based co-founders and directors of Kindred Comics and co-creators of our first epic superhero story: Extraman.

We have been friends for over 15 years and, as avid fans of both Marvel and DC, we decided to bring together our passion and excitement for the visual art form and unique knowledge of the themes within our story, to create something we both feel will be highly relevant in today's time. An element that lends itself to our creative process is our love for film and TV, which helps us create movement and flow throughout our comic, allowing it to read as epic and dramatic as it would on screen.

Join us on this journey and help us bring to life a superhero great enough to rival the likes of Batman and Spider-Man.

British singer-songwriter Jermaine Riley grew up on golden-era Saturday morning cartoons like Thundercats, Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Known as the best drawer in the class, he spent hours practising at home and built a serious comic book collection.

Alongside his music he worked as a freelance graphic designer, creating artwork for musicians and major-label artists, and branded himself the "R&B Superman" with a run of superhero-themed releases.

In February 2021, after 20 years as a professional recording artist, he sketched the character who would become Extraman, and started a new career as a comic book creator.

Britain's Got Talent champion Glen Murphy's love of storytelling started with superhero battles fought with his toys. Inspired by Dragon Ball Z, he picked up drawing early.

As a teenager he turned to professional dance, creating choreography themed around his favourite characters and bringing music, dance and comics together.

In 2021, a close friend of 15 years came to him with an idea that would define their future. That friend was Jermaine Riley, and the idea was Extraman.
